Herbert Lee Armstrong, 69, of Midland, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton with Bill Welsh, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.He was born to Willie Dee Armstrong, Jr. and Edna Ruth November 1, 1943, in Comanche, Texas, and married Alice Fay McNew December 11, 1964, in Stanton, Texas.Herb's father, Willie Dee Armstrong, Jr., was killed in Lorraine, France on November 13, 1944, during World War II. He was raised by his step-father, Calvin McKenzie. He worked for Permian Pontiac and Eatons Transmission Service, retiring in 1993. He continued working on motorcycles and tractors and anything else that needed fixing. There was nothing that Herb could not tinker with and fix.He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Smiley Ranch in Glasscock County.Survivors include his wife, Alice Armstrong of Midland; one son, Rex Armstrong; one daughter, Rachel Baker and husband, Shawn; two granddaughters, Hilary Ashlynn Baker and Cameron Sage Baker all of Midland; two brothers, Dayle McKenzie and wife, Leticia of Stanton and Wade McKenzie and wife, Diann of Midland; four sisters, Edna Ringener of Stanton, Brenda Duke and husband, Dean of Robstown, Lana Ledbetter and husband, Dan of Greenwood and Bonnie Danyluk and husband, Dave of Camano Island, Washington; a brother-in-law, Roy McNew of Greenwood; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Bandit.He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Dee Armstrong, Jr.; his mother, Edna Ruth McKenzie; his step-father, Calvin McKenzie; and two daughters, Linda Kaye and Darla Faye Armstrong.Pallbearers will beCody Ringener, Bobby Robertson, Craig Holbert, Brian Baker, Bill Fuller, Aaron Allen, Floyd Mullins, and Carlos Flores. Honorary Pallbearersare Johnny Barnes, James Mashburn, Larry Cross, and Terry Shanks.The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Miller and his staff for the continuous care and support for the last 20 years of our dads life.The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, 900 W.
