It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Henry Joe Urban, 91, who passed away on June 15, 2025, in Midland, Texas.
Henry was born in Concho County, Texas to Emil and Annie Urban on December 11, 1933. He married Laura Bell Thompson on September 13, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas. They were happily married for 61 years. He and Laura raised five children in the Methodist Church.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Laura, son, Larry, his sisters, Nancy Brosig, Pauline Dusek, Bessie Arthur, and brothers Edwin, William, and James.
Henry is survived by children Marsha Jarzombek (Larry), Terry Urban (Gregg), Alton Urban, Sondra Urban, daughters-in-law Debra Urban and Cheryl Urban, grandchildren include Chris, Curtis, Patrick, Darcy, Jennifer, Katie, and Elizabeth. Henry is also survived by great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild and many close friends.
Henry served his country in the Army from 1957-1959 at Fort Carson and Fort Bliss.
Henry loved learning and teaching. He taught many years at Robert E. Lee High School and others in the Midland Independent School District. He also participated in the Midland real estate market as well as other small businesses.
There will be a graveside service on July 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park. For those who would like to share thoughts/stories about Henry, you are invited to meet at Henry’s home following the service. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Midland or the charity of your choice.
