Helen Maver Bayer of Odessa, TX passed peacefully on Saturday, May 31st, 2025.
Helen was born on November 16, 1932, in Queens, NY to David and Edna Maver. She graduated from Dunellen High School in 1950. While attending Dunellen High School, she met the love of her life, Edward (Ted) J. Bayer Jr. They were married on June 20, 1953.
Helen was an avid reader often finishing a novel in 1 to 2 days. She also enjoyed attending church, most recently at Central Baptist Church in Odessa. She had several jobs over the years, but her passion was staying at home and raising her children. She was a volunteer in many of her kids’ activities including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Band Mom. She touched many lives in her 92 years and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by her son, Edward Alan Bayer of Bell, FL, her daughter and her son-in-law, Dawn and Kevin Copeland of Midland, TX., her granddaughter and husband, Corianna Gagliardi and Dashiell Daniels of Austin, TX and her grandson, Andrew E. Gagliardi of Lubbock, TX.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Edward J Bayer Jr, her father, David Maver, her mother, Edna Voorhees Maver, her brothers, Charles VanDoren, Alan VanDorn and David Maver, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Bayer.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the nursing staff at Midland Memorial Hospital, and Angels Care Hospice of Midland, TX. At Helen’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Angels Care Hospice, 3300 North A St, Bldg. 1-220, Midland, TX 79705 or a charity of your choice.
