Helen M. McDonald, 93, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, in an Odessa hospice facility. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with her cousin, Rev. Eddie Tingle, pastor of First Baptist Church in Miles, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born on September 12, 1915, in Kansas City, Kansas and married Cecil D. McDonald on December 12, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1995. Helen had managed rental properties for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Philathea Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Laura B. Hart Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Social Order of Beauceants, Daughter of the Nile chapter in San Angelo, was a member and past president of the American Business Women's Assocaition Cactus Chapter and was a charter member of the Women's Forum. Helen served on the City of Big Spring Planning and Zoning Board for 14 years. Survivors include one daughter, Cecilia Adams of Big Spring; one son, Bill McDonald and wife, Annette of Burnett; five grandchildren, Hank Adams and wife, Kellie of Denver City, Valerie Hudson and husband, Steve of Miles, Christi Adams of Sweetwater, Greg McDonald of Odessa, and Scott McDonald and wife, Dianna of Round Rock; and six great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leland Wagy; one sister, Lucille Kelly; and by a son-in-law, Gene Adams. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1229, Big Spring, Texas 79721-1229 or Hospice House of Odessa, 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79761 or to a favorite charity.
