Louise Heyroth Alexander was born at home in the rural farming community of Spring Creek, Texas on October 2, 1920 to Louis Heyroth and Vera Eugenia Anderson. Louise married Staff Sergeant Ernest Warren Alexander on August 22, 1942 in Dallas, Texas. In sixty-two years of marriage, Louise played many roles. She was first and foremost a loving wife and caring and compassionate mother and grandmother, but also enjoyed her roles as Sunday School teacher, Scout leader, Red Cross Gray Lady, and willing school volunteer. Louise thought that the title, "homemaker", was a precious gift, and never took that role for granted. Louise was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and her quiet, persistent faith will remain an example to her family. Louise loved to cook, to sew, and to read, but most of all to spend time with her family. Louise was a loyal Air Force wife, sharing assignments for twenty-nine years in points near and far, including San Antonio, Hawaii, Turkey, and Washington, D.C. In the years after Air Force retirement, Louise and Warren were partners in a ranching operation near Hamilton, Texas. They moved to Midland in 1991 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Louise departed this life on August 9, 2004, and leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Lt. Col. Ernest Warren Alexander, USAF Ret., of Midland; son, Scott Warren Alexander and wife, Darla Jean Alexander of San Angelo; daughter, Patricia Alexander Maurer and husband, Dr. William H. Maurer of Midland. Louise will be especially missed by her grandchildren, Kristopher Scott Alexander and wife, Julie, of Austin, Kathryn Clark Alexander of San Antonio, Kort Austin Alexander and Abby Prim Alexander of San Angelo and Sarah Elizabeth Maurer and Robert Warren Maurer of Midland. Louise is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Alexander of Midland and brother, William Heyroth and wife, Carolyn, of Hamilton, and his sons, Steven, Peter, and Paul and their families, and a host of Anderson and Heyroth cousins in cities and towns across Texas. Louise's family is grateful for the nurturing support of Jackie Berry and the Hospice of Midland team for giving her the opportunity to remain at home during the final months of her life. A memorial service for Louise has been scheduled for the Glass Chapel at the First United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 11, 2004. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, the Midland Public Library, the Hamilton County Library, First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com,
