Helen Joyce Kimbrell went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2023. Born to Lorena and Fred Moore on June 13, 1940, in Roscoe, TX, Helen blessed this world for 82 years with her love, kindness, grace and beautiful smile. Helen moved with her family to Odessa, TX during her teen years and later began her family of 6 children. Helen and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and Scottsdale, AZ before moving back to West Texas in 1970 where she would live for the remainder of her life.
Helen met the love of her life, Jeff Kimbrell, in 1980 and they married in 1981. They were completely in love and lived a fun, active life together. Jeff and Helen loved to two-step and be with friends often. As a couple, they found the best versions of themselves. It was easy to see how happy they made each other.
Most of Helen’s career was as a Human Resources Manager at Compressor Systems, Inc. (CSI). CSI provided her with tremendous opportunity, and she always reflected kindly of her time there. Helen retired from CSI over 20 years ago and stayed close to many of her CSI family after her retirement.
Family was the most important aspect of Helen’s life. She cherished time with her 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren who know her as “Oma”. Oma loved to travel with family and mostly enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Ruidoso, Florida, California, South Carolina and all over Texas. Low Sky Ranch near Hico, TX became her favorite place to visit over the past several years. Helen also valued friendships. Those who were fortunate enough to call Helen a friend knew her as a patient listener, an eternal optimist and someone in whom you could confide.
Helen is survived by her daughters Dana Rayos and Pam Montgomery and husband Rick, son John O. Salisbury, son Todd Salisbury and wife Lori, son Jay Salisbury and wife Tracy, 16 grandchildren – Tim Smith, Eric Smith, Amanda Smith, Ben Salisbury, Chris Salisbury, Russell Wright, Alexandria Salisbury, Lauren Binkley, Harrison Binkley, Chase Montgomery, Monica Lennox, Megan Salisbury, Jack Salisbury, Ethan Salisbury, Dylan Salisbury and her 20 great grandchildren. We will all miss her sweetness, sitting on the patio together and laughing at stories from our lives.
Helen is preceded in death by husband Jeff Kimbrell, sister Louise McCawley, brothers Bob Moore and Mike Moore, son Dale Salisbury and grandson Benjamin Montgomery.
