Walker, Helen Jane Ferguson, 79, of Goldthwaite formerly of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, July 12, 2000, in a Goldthwaite nursing home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2000, at Trinity Memorial Park with Dr. Ed Williamson, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Big Spring, officiating.She was born on September 17, 1920 in Hedley, Texas and married Soc Walker on June 6, 1941 in Merkel, Texas. He preceded her in death March 21, 1999. She graduated from Merkel High School in 1937 and graduated from EastTexas State Teachers College in Commerce in 1940. Mrs. Walker was a teacher at Cross Plains from 1940 to 1942, at Colorado City from 1942 to 1946, at Westbrook from 1946 to 1958 and in Big Spring from 1958 to 1977 when she retired. After moving from Big Spring she lived in Spur for nine years and then had lived in Goldthwaite for the past three years.She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Texas State Teachers Association and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Wanda Walker of Goldthwaite; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Adams of Big Spring; five grandchildren, Kyle Walker of Stephenville, Shay Adams and his wife, Misty and their son, Sean Adams all of Abilene, Matt Adams of Houston and Shawana Dobbs and her husband, Coley of Coahoma and herstep-mother, Anna Lou Ferguson of Richardson. The family suggests memorials to the donor's favorite charity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Winnie Ferguson and one brother, Ben Ferguson.
