Helen D. Arnold, 82, of Midland, died on Saturday, December 5, 2009, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Scott Sheppard, of Fairmont Park Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the funeral home.She was born on September 26, 1927, in Evansville, Illinois. She met Alvin Arnold as she was rescued off a runaway horse and they were married on Easter Sunday, 1949 in Paragould, Arkansas. Helen served as PTA President for her children through school. She attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. She was a wonderful alto singer and loved reading, gardening and traveling with her husband. Jake and Helen were charter members of North A Church of Christ. She served as a Pink Lady at Midland Memorial Hospital. She had a great sense of humor and was very outgoing and adventurous.Survivors include her husband, Alvin Arnold of Midland; three daughters, Kathy Huckabay of Greenwood, Patsy Lynn McKinney and husband Bob, and Sharon Renee Rhea and husband Darrell both of Midland; five grandchildren, Paige McKinney Price and husband Jason of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Blake Huckabay and wife Julie, Hollie Moseley and husband Vernon all of Midland, Dusty Rhea and wife Ashley of Leander, and Kiah Rhea of San Angelo; and one great grandchild, Brooke Huckabay of Midland; two sister-in-laws, Wanda Dudley of Midland and Joyce Dudley of Mason, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers Edison, Kenneth, and Rudy Dudley.Pallbearers will be Robert McKinney, Darrell Rhea, Dusty Rhea, and Blake Huckabay. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Dudley, Brad Dudley, and Ron Dudley.The family would like to thank Helen's caregivers at the Younger Center at Manor Park and to Hospice of Midland.The family suggests memorials be made to Midland Christian School, 2001 Culver, Midland, Texas 79705; Hospice of Midland, 901 W.
