Hazel Allred, 79, of Ackerly, died on Monday, March 25, 2002, at Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Larry Marshall, minister of the Knott Church of Christ and her grandson, Eric Herm, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on January 28, 1923 in Howard County, Texas and married Donald E. Allred on October 19, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas. Hazel was a life long resident of Howard County and graduated from Garner High School in Knott in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of the Knott Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Donald Allred of Knott; a daughter and son-in-law, Don Nell and Eddy Herm of Ackerly; two granddaughters, Michelle Zant and husband, Scott of Ackerly and Deanna Herm of Big Spring; one grandson, Eric Herm of Vail, Colorado; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Zant, Karlye Weaver, Dylan Weaver and Preston Zant; one brother, Delbert Harland of Georgetown; and one sister, Nelda Jo Fuller of Lubbock. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dwaine Allred, five sisters and two brothers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
