Harold Rudolph (Rudy) Parkison, 92, of Midland, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Parks- Faudree Chapel at Manor Park in Midland at 10:00AM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX at 1:00PM.Harold was born on October 25, 1926 to Auey and Hugh Parkison in Wood County, TX. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1944-1945. Rudy married Betty Sue Wimberly in 1946 and they had three children. He graduated from Rice Institute with a degree in chemical engineering in 1949 and began a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry. He began working for Shell Oil Company in Louisiana, Texas, and Kansas. In 1964, Rudy moved to Dallas and went to work for General American Oil Company as Vice President of Engineering. From 1981-2004, Rudy was self-employed as an engineering consultant. He was an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. For years, he was a member of a group of senior golfers that played at tournaments at resorts all over the United States. Rudy also enjoyed hunting with his family. Shortly after his wife passed away in 2010, Rudy moved to Midland, Texas to be closer to family.He is survived by his sons, Randall Harold Parkison (Carol) and Scott Wimberly Parkison (Monica), four grandchildren, Jesse Dylan Parkison (Kerri), Ty Wimberly Parkison, Cade Adams Parkison, Anna Blair Parkison, and a great granddaughter, Lucy Hart Parkison. He is also survived by his special friend, Sally Omernick.He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Wimberly Parkison and daughter, Melinda Sue Parkison.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
