Harland James Narem, 82, of Midland, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. Memorial services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Midland.Harland was born on March 6, 1934 to Thelma and Ernest Narem in Summit, South Dakota.Harland graduated from Augustana Academy, South Dakota State College and earned his Master of Science degree from Iowa State University. Harland enjoyed volunteer work, family oriented activities and the fellowship of his support system. Harland served his country in the Army Engineering Corps and was stationed in Germany.He is survived by his wife, of 59 years Ada Narem; son, Brian Narem and wife, Lauri; daughter, Rhonda Tack and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Joshua Narem, Anna Narem, Caleb Narem and Destiny Ashbaugh and husband Simon; one great grandchild, Kendall Grace Ashbaugh; sister, Mary Schuldheisz; brother, John Narem and wife, Sharon; and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Narem, and his brother in law Lloyd Schuldheisz.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be donated to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, AMOS, or to a charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
