H.W. "Bill" Sublett, 90, of Houston, formerly of Big Spring, died in Houston. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring with Chaplain Scott Jimenez of the VA Medical Center, officiating. He was born on June 16, 1919, in Cisco, Texas. He will be buried next to Lorraine his wife of 50 plus years. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2001.Bill was a decorated ex-prisoner of war serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was captured on Corregidor during World War II where he was held captive for 3 and one half years. Bill was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and worked many years for this church. He was a dedicated family man and is survived by his two children, Delores and Fulton.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Bill and Lorraine wer truly friends to the Autrey family. Bill was a hero to all of us (especially Henry and David). He was a favorite at Triangle in Robery Lee when we owned the business. God bless all the heroes and especially the ones like Bill.

08/02/09 Mr. Sublett was a customer of a bank where I worked in the 1980's. We enjoyed his visits when he came in to do his banking and would tell a story or two about his WWII experiences. I still remember some of his stories and how nice he was. My sympathy to his family. Nell Kennedy
