H.M. Walters, 89, died September 2, at his home in Midland. Services will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Thursday September 6 at 1:00 p.m.H.M. was born October 6, 1928 in Archer City, TX to Herbert and Minnie Walters. He graduated from Winnsboro High, went to BMI School of Business in Longview, and Kilgore College. He enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Mediterranean Theater on the USS Henley.He married Virginia Anderson in 1949 and they moved to Midland in 1952. He worked for Texaco for 37 years and retired in 1989. He belonged to the Texaco Toastmasters, where he won several awards. He then had a second career as a crossing guard at Rusk Elementary and a third career as a Walmart greeter.H.M. was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was chairman of the Administrative Council for two terms, past president of the Methodist Men, past president of Keenagers, and Lay Leader.He never met a stranger, and would know your life story in 10 minutes. He was very enthusiastic and funny.He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia, his children Mike Walters and Kathy Sanders of Midland and Laura Fields of Lenorah, ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.,
