H. Darlene Hill, 83, of Midland, died on Friday, September 14, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Rev. Jerry Berry, pastor of Kelview Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, September 17, 2012, at the funeral home She was born on January 17, 1929, in Baird, Texas.Darlene graduated from Meade High School in Meade, Kansas and attended Dodge City Junior College. It was during this time she met and married W. Ronald Hill in Ford, Kansas, on May 4, 1952.Ron and Darlene lived in Kansas, Texas, California, and Illinois, as Ron was promoted as an Executive of the Santa Fe Railroad. Through the years, Darlene was a member of the Amarillo Little Theater Act IV Guild and was Past President of the Christian Women's Club in both Amarillo and Val Verde, California. She and Ron were active members of Paramount Baptist Church during their time in Amarillo. She later transferred her membership to Kelview Heights Baptist Church upon her arrival in Midland.Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, and friend and enjoyed singing, and she sang in the church choir at various times of her life. She loved antiquing with her friends. Her passion was her family, and her family farm in Kansas, which she successfully managed for the past 20 years. Darlene moved to Midland in 2006 to be near her daughters.Survivors include two daughters, Roc'C Semmelbeck and husband Mark and Pebble Winters and husband Glenn, all of Midland; six grandchildren, Katherine Hartsfield Stepp and husband Patrick, Sara Marie Hartsfield, Sharee Ashley Semmelbeck, Rachel Hartsfield Malish and husband Jeremy, Christopher Semmelbeck, and Ashley Winters; and three great grandchildren, Mati Valadez, Gus Stepp, and Piper Stepp.The family wishes to thank Hospice of Midland and request memorial donations be made to PO Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home of Midland. WE ATTENDED GRADES 2-12 TOGETHER AS CLOSER THAN BEST FRIENDS,SHARING ALL THE JOYS AND SORROWS LIFE COULD THROW AT US. I AM CONFIDENT SHE WILL BE IN THE CHOIR AND WILL HAVE SAVED AN ALTO CHAIR FOR ME WHEN I GET THERE. (We sang duets together from age 7 to 10 at the Methodist church in Fowler ,Ks.)Some were hilarious--due to our inimitable style! She (much later in life) helped me when I kept my terminally ill husband in Amarillo for one month so that he could receive daily treatment.
