Gwendolyn Lorenz, 72, of Midland, Texas, passed away on June 26, 2024. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Services will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Westside Church of Christ, located at 4410 Illinois Avenue in Midland, Texas. Interment will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Gwen was born on February 2, 1952, in Dallas, Texas, to Eldon and Judy Reams. She married James (Jim) Darwin Lorenz on October 3, 1970, and together they had three children: Lori Lorenz Johnson (Chaney Johnson), James Aaron Lorenz (Vanessa Sand), and Suezanna Lorenz Settle (Scott Settle). Gwen graduated from Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas, in 1970 with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. She dedicated 26 years of her career to the insurance industry, serving with distinction across various companies. Her outstanding commitment was recognized multiple times with the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award, and she was honored as the ‘Insurance Producer of the Year’.
Alongside her husband, Jim, they served as house parents at the South-Central Christian Children’s Home for seven years, providing guidance and care to countless children. She lived a life marked by service to others, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and dedication.
Gwen is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim. She leaves behind her children Lori, Aaron, and Suezanna, as well as her grandchildren Garrett Johnson, Joshua Settle, and Caleb Settle. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Elle Settle, Raiden Settle, Lila Settle, and Collins Settle. Gwen is remembered by her siblings, Roger Reams, Dean Reams, and Glenna Reams, along with several nieces and nephews. Gwen is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Judy Reams, and her brother Fred Hill.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice, the hospital staff, and the Westside Church of Christ for their support and care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales New Mexico, Meals on Wheels of Midland or Home of Recovery and Restoration at Winnsboro Texas.
