Gus W. Jacobs, Sr., 85, of Coahoma, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma with Russ Mullins, officiating and Eddy Pitchford, assisting. The family will receive friends from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born on May 11, 1923, in Indian Gap, Texas and married Georgia Mae Simpson on August 5, 1950 in Colorado City, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1999.Gus was raised in Indian Gap and came to Coahoma in 1965. He was a truck driver and rancher most of his life before retiring. He was a member of the Coahoma Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Andeen Halbrook of Woodville, Alabama, Beverley and Jon Scribner of Big Spring, and Darlene and Bill Gressett of The Colony; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Teresa Jacobs of Coahoma; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one grandson, Tybo Jacobs. The family suggests memorials be made to Coahoma Church of Christ, P.O. Box 198, Coahoma, Texas 79511 or to Medina Children's Home, 21300 State Highway 16 N., Medina, Texas 78055. We are so sorry to hear about Mr. Jacobs passing, he was such a great person and friend. I can't think of a bigger Coahoma fan, and he is going to be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. Sincerely, The Goodblankets

We were so sorry to hear about Gus. He was such a special person. We will miss him dearly. I will never forget the fun times we had on softball trips when he would ride with me. God Bless you in this sorrowful time.

Beverly, Darlene, Wayne and families...I am going to miss Gus so much..I would see him everyday, sometimes just to wave and sometimes to chit chat, but he always had that smile on his face...You will all be in my thoughts and prayers......Love to all, Cindy

My prayers go out to your family. I did not know until Wednesday night or I would have been at the visitation. Unfortunately I have a doctor appointment at 2:00 today and will not be able to make it to the services either. I really liked Gus and enjoyed visiting with him from time to time. He had a good heart.
