Gus Grimes Jolly, 84, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, January 28, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Chaplain Clay Porter, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven North Cemetery. Gus was born September 24, 1928, in Big Lake, Texas to William and Dovie Jolly. He married Nancy Hart on August 18, 1969 in Dallas, Texas. He served in the United States Army. He went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring in 1985. He then opened The Telephone Man. Everyone called him The Telephone Man.Survivors include wife, Nancy of Midland; daughter, Dianne J. Hume of Midland; grandchildren, Laura Peek, James Peek III, whom Gus helped raise; sons, Raymond Jolly and wife Phyllis of Midland, and Mark Jolly and wife Julie of Midland; his sisters, Zella Beck of Clyde, TX, Mary Bowman and husband Doyle of Abilene, and Frances Manning of Abilene; brother, Frankie Jolly of Abilene; grandchildren, Richard Marshall and wife Mary Lu of Midland, Haylie Urias and husband Paul of Midland, Tony Marshall and wife Kimberly of Mineral Wells, Michael Jolly and wife Angie of Gardendale, Tara Sosa and husband Benny of Midland, other grandchildren include Cassie Jolly, Jennifer Jolly, Temple Cox, Emily Jolly, Matthew Jolly, and Sarah Jolly, all of Midland; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dovie Jolly, sister, Marie, brothers, Billy Jolly and James Jolly, daughter, Mary Helen Marshall and son-in-law, Billy Hume.Pallbearers will be James Peek III, Michael Jolly, Richard Marshall, Antonio Reyes, Jesse Marshall, and Andy Marshall. Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Cross and Laura Peek.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, 4400 N Big Spring Street, STE 32, Midland, TX 79705.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
