Grover H. Wayland, 79, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at his residence. Masonic graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on February 8, 1926, in Comanche County, Texas and married Letha F. Wright on December 3, 1966 in Big Spring, Texas. Mr. Wayland came to Big Spring in 1954 and had worked in civil service at Webb Air Force Base as an aircraft sheetmetal worker retiring in 1975 after 29 years. He liked to tinker, do woodworking and build birdhouses. He was a Baptist.He was a member of Staked Plains Lodge #598, A.F. & A.M. , a member of the Suez Shrine Temple in San Angelo, a member and past Worthy Patron of Big Spring Chapter #67, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Woodmen of the World.Survivors include his wife, Letha Wayland of Big Spring; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Carl Lancaster and Brenda Garrett all of Big Spring; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Debbie Blair of Big Spring; four grandchildren, Heath Blair and wife Jacy, Marlana Ott and husband Harold, and Wayne Riggins all of Big Spring and Stephanie Minter of Abilene; four great grandchildren, Ashley and Cheyanne Gibson of Abilene and Corbin Blair and Vance Ott both of Big Spring; one sister, Irene Howell of Elko, Nevada; and one brother, Orba Wayland of Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one grandson, Hunter Blair.The family suggests memorials be made to the donor's favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
