Gregory Long, 72 of Midland, joined his Savior on January 10, 2023. Greg was born on May 29, 1951 in Kermit, TX to Glen and Myrtle Long. He graduated from Wink High School and joined the Air Force, serving from 1969- 1975. He served as a military policeman at Kiwa San and Kadewa Air Base in Korea, Misawa Air Base in Japan and Phae Rang, Vietnam.
After leaving the Air Force he went to work for DPS as a radio operator where he met the love of his life, Josephine Longoria. They married in Ozona, TX on February 4, 1978. After DPS he worked at the Paul Davis water station for the city of Midland. Greg started GDL industrial Electronics in 1990 alongside his brother Dennis. This business enabled Greg and Josie to bless customers and employees for going on 33 years. Greg enjoyed sharing his knowledge of electronics, cars, guns, and sharing the good news of his Lord and Savior with others.
After his retirement in 2015, he enjoyed golfing, going to the shooting range, babysitting his grandkids, mentoring young business owners, going to Bible study with his dear friends, taking his family on vacations, and most of all spending time with Josie.
Greg and Josie were long time members and elders at Living Way Foursquare Church of Midland. He was a loving husband, dad to 2 daughters, PawPaw to 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Greg was preceded in death by his mother and father Glen and Myrtle Long and brother Gary Long.
Survivors include wife Josie Long, daughters Stephanie Crawford and husband Trent Crawford and Sarah Haynie and husband Caleb Haynie, grandchildren Tristan Lee, Jayden Lee, Madyson Haynie, Dylan Haynie, Clay Haynie, Ryleigh Haynie and Weston Crawford, great grandson Charles Almaras-Lee, brothers Dennis Long of Midland, TX. Kyle Long of Sweetwater, TX and sisters Vicki Hallmark of Lubbock, TX and Neita Everett of Pineville, LA.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be at Living Way Foursquare Church at 11:00am Monday, January 15, 2024.
