Gordean Miller, 83, of Stanton, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, in a Big Lake nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church, Stanton with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery Stanton. She was born on June 20, 1919, in Johnson City, Texas and married Jim Miller on December 30, 1938 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1996. Mrs. Miller came to Stanton in 1926 from Johnson City. She and Jim bought the farm in the Valley View Community in 1946 and moved to Stanton in 1956. She was very active in the Home Demonstration Club and had volunteered many years at the Stanton Care Center. She had been an active member of First United Methodist Church in Stanton. She was considered a prayer warrior and was a member of a prayer and bible study group. Survivors include three sons Merle G. Miller and wife, Lucy of Monahans, Jimmy Miller and wife, Reba Kay of Mertzon, and Johnny Miller and wife, Lynn of Martin County; one daughter, Sandra Krause of Midland; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Eula Mae Tunnell, 3 brothers, Sterling Tunnell, Jay Tunnell, and Johnny Tunnell; one sister, Lola Meyers; a great grandson, Bailey Wade Miller; and her son-in-law, Johnny Krause. The family suggests memorials to Reagan County Care Center, 805 N. Main, Big Lake, Texas 76932 or First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 1193, Stanton, Texas 79782 or to a favorite charity.
