Goldie Anderson passed away at home on Monday, February 20th following a cancer diagnosis in late November. Services will be held Saturday, February 25th, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Peace Chapel, Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas.She was born Goldie Elizabeth Ellis on January 23, 1924 in Davis, Oklahoma to Robert and Loisie Elizabeth Wishard Ellis. Mrs. Anderson is survived by four children and their spouses as follows: SFC (US Army Ret) Ronnie and Ellen Anderson of Caney, Oklahoma; Donald and June Anderson of Hawley, Texas; HM1 (US Navy Ret) Billy and Faye Anderson of Sterling City, Texas; and one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Wayne Stroup of Big Spring. "Grandma" Anderson is survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Stephanie and Cpt. Darryl Hammonds (USMC) of Twenty-Nine Palms, California; Carrie Godwin of Littleton, Colorado; Amber and Kevin Rich of Big Spring, Texas; Bill and Linda Godwin of Blackhawk, Colorado; Brett and Tera Anderson of Nacogdoches Texas; Stacy and Ronnie Stokes of Lubbock, Texas; Neal and Janet Anderson of Ballinger, Texas; SSG Jason Anderson (US Army) and his fiancée Heather Roberts, both of Abilene Texas; Shane Anderson of Everette, Washington; and siblings Ashley, Jeremy, and Laura Anderson of Washington State; Elizabeth and Daniel Ellison of Abilene, Texas; and Kayne and Natalie Stroup of San Antonio, Texas. The grandsons and grandsons-in-law will be serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers."MeMaw" Anderson waited patiently for eleven years after her first grandchild wed, without any great-grandchildren. Her patience was eventually rewarded, and she is survived by eight great-grandchildren, as follows: Riley Grace Stokes; Nathan Rayne Rich; Ethan Zane Hammonds; Stephen Ross Anderson; Abby Lynn Ellison; Emma Leah Ellison; Brianna Lyn Godwin; and soon-to-be baby girl, Reagan Faith Stokes. Mrs. Anderson is also survived by her two beloved pugs, Millineum Babe "Millie", and Miss Wiggles of Big Spring, Texas and also her grand-dogs Kata and Sadie of San Antonio, Texas. Goldie married Floyd Anderson, who preceded her in death on January 18, 1999. Her parents also preceded her in death, as well as six siblings: her twin John Ellis; brothers Jack and Leroy Ellis; and sisters Inez Thurman, Willie Mae Dewees, and Mary Louise Wheeler. Loved ones also preceding her in death included an infant grandson, Michael Anderson in 1972, and his mother Dene Anderson in 2000.Mrs. Anderson's formal occupation would be listed as "homemaker". However, a past birthday proclamation lists her lifetime occupations as including the following: seamstress; hairdresser; farm equipment assembler; tractor driver and farm hand; first aid nurse; snake exterminator; milkshake maker; turtle-feeder and care-taker; bird-waterer; green cake maker; laundress; fence-builder; cotton stomper; coupon cutter; chief cook and bottle washer; baby sitter; salesman and garage sale diva; nursemaid; tooth fairy assistant/tooth-puller; veterinarian; evil kineval; magic suitcase & trunk packer; 1st class detective, bloodhound & eagle eye; innkeeper; keeper of the games; costume-maker; tee-pee constructor; knife-wielder; pallet-sleeper; lunch-packer.Goldie was honored with an 80th birthday proclamation in 2004. This is a quote from that proclamation: All this, she did: and she did it before fast food, without credit cards, baby sitters, housekeepers, internet service, or cell phones.
