Glenn Pleas “Fuzzy” Dickenson, Jr, 88, of Big Spring passed away peacefully, Friday, June 6, 2014 in Big Spring. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Pastor Ed Prince officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Honorary pallbearers include Bill & R. L. Lasater, Weldon Carmichael, Harvey Hanson, Jim Airheart.Glenn was born August 20, 1925 in Lamesa to Glenn and Alice (Banta) Dickenson. He attended schools in Andrews, Fort Worth and Lamesa. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September of 1943 and served 17 months as a Private First Class. Glenn was directly involved with some of the heaviest fighting on the beaches of Iwo Jima and later served as a forward observer on Guam. He returned to Lamesa and worked several years as a roughneck in the old fields of West Texas before beginning his career as a cotton farmer east of the Sparenberg community. He married Mable Timmins of Big Spring August 16, 1956 in Lovington, New Mexico. Glenn and Mable moved to Big Spring in 1975 and continued farming until his retirement in 1988. Mable preceded him in death February 11, 2005.“Fuzzy” (a reference to his curly hair as a child) will be greatly missed and remembered for his gracious generosity, his captivating “larger than life” sense of humor, and his genuine love for family and cherished friends. Glenn was an avid reader, an excellent golfer, and a marvelous man to know, love and remember. He is survived by son, Junior Barber of Big Spring; Tamera Barber of Big Spring; 4 grandchildren, Mickey Barber and Angela Randle of Big Spring, Glen Craven of Alabama and Daffaney Chambers; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; his aunt, Merlene Brown of Lamesa; nephew, Dan Hanson and wife, Judy of Chickasha, Oklahoma; nephew, Gary Hanson and wife, Lynn of Lubbock; several great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Harvey Hanson of Lamesa; and sisters-in-law, Thelma Snediger of Seminole, Annette Eason of Troy, Missouri, and Ruby Parker of Winterhaven, Florida.In addition to his wife, Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sue Barber Semmes; and sister, Geraldine “Jerri” Hanson.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
