Glen Edwin Farmer was born November 21, 1934, to Ebb and Ida Farmer, at home on the family farm in Wheeler County, Texas. He started to school in Mobeetie, Texas. Then, when his mother went back to teaching in Wheeler, Texas, he went through school in Wheeler, where he played football on the high school team, and graduated in 1953. He attended West Texas State College, graduating in 1957. His first job after college was with Shell Oil Company, and he always said that his boss at Shell taught him all he knew about being a landman. He later became an independent, Certified Professional Landman, working in Midland for 25 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of First Christian Church of Midland, and the Permian Basin Landmen's Association, as well as a 32nd degree Mason and York Rite Shriner. Glen died on July 28, 2011. He is survived by Janet, his wife of 56 years, and their four sons and their families: David, and his wife Cathy, and their two daughters, Julie Ann and Melissa; Brian, and his wife Denise, and son Russell of Lubbock, Nathan and Nolan, both of Amarillo, and daughter Jacquelyn and her husband Patrick Jackson, and their son Michael Bryan, of Hutto; son, Kyle and his wife Debra and their daughters, Sarah and Rachel, and son Andrew, all of Arlington, and Paul and his wife Kareen, and daughter Lindsey of Houston. A memorial service will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at First Christian Church at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mike Hunter, officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. The family suggests memorials be made to: Salvation Army, 300 S.
