Gladys Lilly \Memaw\ Smith, be-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2014, in her home in Midland, TX. Gladys Lilly Brown was born in Oklahoma, and moved to Texas at an early age. She grew up in San Angelo, and met the love of her life, Eddie Lee Smith in 1948. After dating only 3 weeks, E.L. \Bus\ asked for her hand, and they married at the Four Square Church, on 19th Street, in San Angelo, TX..After a military career (stationed in California), E.L. and Gladys moved back to San Angelo, started a family, and moved to Midland in 1957. Gladys was driven to help with family expenses alongside her husband, and opened Valley View Mobile Home Park in 1970. She took great pride in running a well-kept park, and valued the relationships with her tenants over the past 44 years. Gladys was a successful entrepreneur, and a true example of class to numerous young families in Midland/Odessa. She was never afraid to share her secrets of a lasting marriage, as well as keeping a family close. After all, these are the things that mattered most to her in life. Above all things, Gladys valued family, hard work, honesty, loyalty and respect. She and E.L. passed on these values to their children and grandchildren. She has worked hard her whole life, and is the definition of a strong woman, with solid morals and values, who loved and respected the outdoors. Gladys was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, E.L. Smith. She is survived by her greatest pride and joys, her three sons, Danny, Don and Rick.Danny, his wife Connie, Don and his wife Debbie, and Rick and his wife Mary, all reside in Midland.Gladys was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Stephanie Alsup and husband, Mark of Del Rio, Wendy Smith of Midland, Bucky Smith and wife, Donya of Midland, Andy Smith and wife, Kandace of Mason, Wes Smith of Midland, Stacy Smith of Midland, Chris Smith and wife, Alishia of Midland, Sally Crunk and husband, Dane of Midland, and Sarah Wilber and husband, Colton of Colorado.
