Gilbert Richard Delgado, 65 of Midland, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017. A wake will begin at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Gilbert Richard Delgado was born on July 15, 1951 in the city of San Bernardino, California to his parents, Richard Delgado and Mary Sotelo. Gilbert grew up in the city of Ontario, California and later moved to Midland, Texas in 1985 where he made his home. Gilbert was a compassionate Man of God and had a heart to help and serve people. He had a passion for fishing both in the natural and spiritual. Gilbert loved cooking for his family and was known for his famous “Don Chuck Tacos.” Gilbert was the founder of the “Journey Home.” He opened his home to many people in need who struggled with addiction and life’s struggles. His passion was to impart Christ in their lives that they might know Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior.He is survived by his children’s mother, Dora Hernandez, three daughters, Kathryn Delgado, Anna Delgado, Lorraine Delgado, son, Gilbert Delgado Jr.; grandchildren, Melissa Holguin, Alexis Delgado, Manuel Rios, Mario Holguin, Aja Rios, Adrian, Rios, Gilbert Delgado III, Steven Perez and Solara Delgado-Johnson; great-grandchildren, Isaac Fernandez, Miguel Fernandez and Olivia-Monroe Evans; siblings Dorothy Gutierrez, Cynthia Infante and Mark Valdez; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Delgado and mother, Mary Sotelo and all those friends and family near and far who have gone home to be with the Lord.The family would like to express their gratitude towards those who have prayed and supported the family through this time of loss. We would like to thank those who continually share the beautiful stories of how Gilbert imparted and impacted their lives.Pallbearers are Gilbert Delgado Jr., Mark Valdez, Manuel Rios, Mario Holguin, Alfred Ortega, Greg Romero and David Gutierrez.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
