Geraldine "Gerri" Atwell, 93, of Big Spring, died on Friday, March 26, 2004, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, March 29, 2004 at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Herb McPherson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Elwin Collom, chaplain at Home Hospice and Kerry Gunnels, grandson, officiating. She was born on June 5, 1910, in Big Spring, Texas. She married Alva Moore and he preceded her in death. She then married Charlie Lee Atwell, Sr. on September 13,1957 in Big Spring and he preceded her in death on February 25. 2000.Gerri was the first curator of the Heritage Museum and served in that capacity for twelve years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker.Survivors include one daughter, Jonnie Gunnels of Big Spring; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family suggests memorials to the donor's favorite charity.The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral home.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
