Gerald Willborn, 82, of Big Spring, died on Saturday, May 12, 2001, in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jess Colegrove, pastor of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Nile Cole. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on October 8, 1918 in San Saba County, Texas and married Louise Chapman on October 29, 1938 in Knott, Texas. Mr. Willborn grew up in Holt, Texas and moved to Howard County on October 8, 1934. He was in the ginning business for 47 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise Willborn of Big Spring; two sons, Warren Willborn of Big Spring and Brice Willborn of Brownwood: one daughter, Carolyn Martin of Lubbock; one step brother, Jerry Wells; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and fifteen brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 PM to 8 PM.
