Gerald LaFontaine, 91, of San Angelo, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012, in a Big Spring hospital. Military memorial services will be held at a later date. He was born May 7, 1921, in Lisbon Falls, Maine and married A. Norma Gagne LeClair in July 1948 in San Antonio. She preceded him in death in October 1986.Gerald was the oldest of 9 children. He began his military career in 1937 serving in both the United States Army and United States Air Force for a total of 24 years. He served in the South Pacific and the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska and Italy. He retired in San Angelo in 1982 and moved to the Baptist Memorial Retirement Center in 1984. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Angelo and a life member of the VFW.Survivors include his step son, Ed LeClair and wife, Roberta of San Angelo; one brother, Alfred LaFontaine and wife, Fifi of Burbank, California; one sister, Lillian O'Brien of Lewiston, Maine; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
