Ruth Howze, 94, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Big Spring, died on Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Fredericksburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Elder David Machiavello, pastor of The Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church, of Big Spring and Elder Charlie Rose, of The Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, April 26, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.Ruth was born on September 18, 1909, in Wichita, Kansas, and married Ben Howze on May 21, 1927, in Graham, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1987.Mrs. Howze came to Big Spring in 1942. She served, with her husband, as a pastor's wife at the Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church of Big Spring for 42 years. She was a member of Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church.Survivors include her son, Ken Howze of Highland Haven; one granddaughter, Monja Doyle of Marble Falls; two great granddaughters, Rachel Doyle and Laura Doyle; and one great grandson, Kyle Doyle. She was preceded in death by one grandson Mark Howze, in 1981.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
