George William Fuhrmann has passed away after a long battle with parasitic kidney disease. He was born in Buffalo, New York on October 26, 1949.

He was an avid treasure hunter. He enjoyed the hunt of rare artifacts. He had a photographic memory for identifying rare coins and could even put a monetary value on a coin without even looking it up in a coin book.

He enjoyed being out in the community volunteering. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 30 years. Always taking time to visit with each stop and insuring they were safe. He also volunteered for Hospice of Midland and was especially gifted with Alzheimer’s patients.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Fuhrmann and two sisters, June Sophia Martin and Carolyn Fuhrmann.

The family would like to thank Midland Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Midland for the loving care they provided in his last days. Also, many thanks to the caregiver at the kidney center, DaVita of Midland.

The family will greet friends at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.

Valerie my heart hurt seeing George had passed. What a joy he was and talk about a ray of sunshine! He was all of that. I miss seeing you both volunteering and at mass. You will both always be in my heart and prayers. I. Love you Valerie. 🫶🏽

When George started doing volunteer work at Hospice of Midland he was "the other George." He had that winning smile, talkative manner, and cheerful outlook. And before I knew it, I had became "the other George." We all loved him and will miss him greatly. George Johns
