George B. Sanborn, Jr., 73, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, officiating.The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on August 7, 1934 in New Hampshire and married Lyda May Axtens on December 29, 1973 in Big Spring, Texas.He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Sanborn worked as truck driver for J. H. Walker Trucking Company in Houston for many years. He came to Big Spring in 1972 from the Corpus Christi area.Survivors include his wife, Lyda May Sanborn of Big Spring; two daughters & sons-in-law, Alma and Leroy Walker and Wanda and Bill King all of Big Spring; one son & daughter-in-law, Jack and Sharon Birdwell of Big Spring; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one sister; a grandson and a great-grandson.
