Gene William Pace, 69, of Midland, died on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at the Midland Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church, with Rev. Ariel Ladunilla, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.He was born on September 12, 1938, in Midland, Texas and married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Brownlee in 1957 in Midland. She preceded him in death in April 2003.Gene William Pace, son of Floyd C. Pace and Mary Nelle Hobbs, graduated from Midland High School in 1957 and had played football. He also attended Midland College, where he received an Associate's degree and certification as a paralegal. He had owned his family business, Pace Construction, for a number of years and later owned and operated The Sports Armory in Midland until he retired. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.Earlier in life, Gene enjoyed competitive and recreational sailing and was a member of Lake Thomas Yacht Club. He was an avid hunter and was active in competitive shooting.Survivors include one son, John Pace, and wife Rhonda; one daughter, Raelene Bradley, and husband Bill, all of Midland; 6 grandchildren, Shawna Edmindson, of Plano, Christopher Pace, Gena Bradley, Zebadiah Bradley, Myles Wilburn, and Alexis Wilbrun, all of Midland; and two sisters, Mary Ausley, and husband George, of Keller, and Atrelle Pace of Midland.He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Andrew Floyd Pace on September 19, 1979.Memorials can be made to Hospice of Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
