Gayla Irene Morris, 56, of Midland, Texas, passed into the arms of her Savior on December 3, 2021, at 7:14AM. Her funeral service will be held at the Kelview Heights Baptist Church chapel on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 10AM. She will be buried in Roswell, New Mexico, in a graveside service.
Gayla was born on July 28, 1965, in Concord, California, to James Doyle and Geneva (Whitehead) Morris. Gayla was the youngest child of six and dearly loved her family. Her singing and laughter filled our hearts with joy.
As a graduate of Bible College, she was a student of God’s Word, having embraced Christ by faith at an early age. She also earned a B.B.A. from the College of the Southwest in 2012.
Gayla was a multifaceted person. She was kind and generous, and loved her ministry with the children at church. She was interested in politics. She was a “handyman” in her home and loved to write music. She wrote a few songs and published a book and wanted to make a hit in Nashville. She did excellent and meticulous work at West Texas National Bank, rising to the level of Vice President; she enjoyed all her coworkers. She traveled many parts of the world. We don’t like that she went to heaven before us, but we don’t begrudge her being there.
Gayla is preceded in death by her dad, James Doyle Morris, and is survived by her mother Geneva Morris; brothers, Stanley (Rene) Morris, Dan (Debbie) Morris, David (Lynn) Morris, and Dwayne (Angela) Morris; and sister Doyla (Bill) Bramblet. She is loved by all her nephews, nieces, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating her life.
