The world lost a gentleman when Gary Wayne Grice lost a courageous battle with liver cancer on Easter Sunday 2005.Services will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00 AM at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with interment at Trinity Memorial Park with military honors. Chaplain Dean Thomas of the VA Medical Center will officiate.He was the son of Lee and Ruth Grice of Hobbs, New Mexico. His mother died when he was but four years old and he was raised by his paternal grandparents on a farm near Jayton, Texas. In high school, Gary was voted "the most likely to do … anything"! He soon joined the Army. His seven year stint included three tours of Viet Nam and one tour of Germany.He returned to work in the oilfields of New Mexico and West Texas. This involved extensive travel in the west.When the oilfields played out, Gary returned to school. He completed an associates degree in Science at Texas Technical College in Waco, Texas, as a Biomedical Technician. He rose to become one of the few certified Biomedical Technicians in West Texas.Gary and Lucy Gill fell in love in 1994 while she was completing Dental Hygiene School in Big Spring. They were married and spent the last eleven years biking down the happy road of destiny together. Who can forget seeing Gary on his Harley? In 2000, Gary procured a prestigious Bio-Med Tech position at VAMC in Big Spring. He was always direct, honest, and unwavering in defending what was right.He was a member of the VFW, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, the Harley Owners Group and AFGE, the American Federation of Government Employees.He is survived by his wife, Lucy Gill Grice of Big Spring, Pearl Hass and Larry Hass of Big Spring, Pat and Guy Prater of Coahoma, Connie and Linda Russell of San Angelo, Merlene and Johnny Barry of Denton, George Gaines and Mary Sue Gill-Gaines of San Angelo and several nieces and nephews.He was a friend to all.
