Gabe Wiley Lawson, 36, of Midland passed away on December 2, 2012 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 12:00-8:00PM and Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 8:00-10:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Born on September 4, 1976, in Denver, Colorado to Patrick and Barbara Lawson. Gabe earned a Bachelor Degree from Southwestern University and graduated with honors earning his J.D. Degree in Law from the University of Tulsa. Gabe was an Attorney for Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc. He was on the board of the Midland Arts Council. He was a kind, witty, gentle soul, with a very contagious laugh and infectious spirit. Gabe loved his family and friends dearly and his son, Alex, was his world. He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Barbara Lawson; son, Alex Lawson and his mother, Tiffany Lawson; sister Michelle and Dan Gillis and their children, Ryan and Wesley Gillis; sister, Regan Lawson and her daughter, Becca Jackson; brother, Gar and Tara Lawson and their daughter, Kirstyn Lawson; aunt, Mitzi and Terry Griffith and their children Mike and Jennifer Drummond and Stephanie Griffith. His brother, York Gant Morgan, precedes him in death.In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Midland Arts Council.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Barb & Pat, Frank and I were so sorry to learn about Gabe's death. I know you are in shock and disbelief as anyone would be. Know that you both and your family are in our prayers. We will all join our loved ones but have to live life until that time comes. Linda Smith, your high school friend.

Barbara & Pat,We are so profoundly sorry for your loss. We have such fond memories of being with all of you as the kids were growing up. Bert & Holt had some quick visits with Gabe when they ran in to him a few times recently and were so sad to hear of his death. What a sweet and kind young man who will be missed. I was surprised and deeply saddened to hear of Gabe's passing. When we hired him as a new associate out of law school, he was a great addition to the firm. He was a good attorney, but more importantly, he was a good guy. He will be missed.

I feel profoundly sad to hear of Gabe's death and I am so sorry for the loss of your precious son/friend/father. We kept up with one another over the years and he will forever remain one of the loves of my life and someone who deeply influenced me and impacted my life, all in positive ways. I grew up with him and he taught me to be a better person. He was one of the most beautiful people I have ever known and I am so sorry Alex will not know him like we all did. I feel incredibly blessed and privileged to have been able to know him like I did and I am so glad I have so many beautiful memories of him. Please accept my deepest condolences. I cannot imagine your sorrow. Heaven gained a true angel and that is what I hope will see you through, knowing he is at peace and with the good Lord.

My heart goes out to you and your family during this most difficult time. Gabe and I were in Leadership Midland Class of 2011 together. Gabe is one of the most generous and kind-hearted person that I've had the pleasure of knowing, and he will be missed by many. I will always remember him fondly. Dear Barbara and Pat,Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of Gabe. Gabe was the kid who was so easy to like and such a joy to be around. Even though he grew up into a very nice man, I know the kid was always easy to find in him. Enjoying life and helping others are we could ever ask of anyone. Gabe and I were close friends in college. His smile would light up the room. He had a way of making everyone around him feel so special. He was kind, generous and giving. I know that he is being missed by so many people. His son, family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

Gabe was in Martin's Leadership Midland Class of 2011. Several from that class became very good friends and since I would tag along to many of their social events, I got to know Gabe as a freind as well. We have fond memories of our get togethers. Gabe was there with a smile and always went out of his way to greet us when we would run into him around town, whether it be at Carino's, The Wine Rack or a Rockhounds game. He will be so incredibly missed. My prayers for comfort and healing go out to all. I know he cared for so many and was loved deeply.

My prayers are with Gabe's family and friends. Gabe introduced me to my college boyfriend who played a significant role in my experience at Southwestern. Many wonderful experiences blossomed because of that. I will always be grateful to him for initiating that crazy journey. I hope Gabe knows that. For some reason I have the urge to say woohoo alright in an Australian accent. Thank you Gabe for memories like that, My prayers are with his son and family.

I wanted to express my deepest condolences to the entire family for your loss. I cant imagine the pain you are dealing with right now. I was so sad to hear about Gabe. We met while serving on the Arts Council board, and I always enjoyed being with him. He was fun to be with but also showed a strong commitment to whatever he was doing. I had looked forward to getting to know him better.

Although I grew up in Midland, I didn't get to know Gabe until we met at Southwestern. I was a senior when he was a sophomore. Gabe lived life to the fullest and was always so much fun to be around. We had many good times at fraternity parties, playing cards, watching movies and cutting up. His laugh was infectious and he never met a stranger. He left too early and will be missed. I can't find the words to express how I'm feeling other than I lost one of the closest friends I've ever had in my life actually he was more like the brother I never had. My deepest sympathy and prayers belong to Barbara,Pat and all of his family and friends especially Alex who was Gabe's all. I only knew Gabe a short time before I moved from Midland. He was a great friend and if you needed a laugh, find Gabe. He will be missed and I ask that God be with his family and friends through this tragic loss.

To parents and family, I just wanted to write this note because so many times God brought Gabe to mind for me to write him a Thank You note for something he did years ago, but I ended up being too embarrassed because so much time had passed that I never did. I wish I had. Gabe helped me out in Tulsa, advocating for a mother I had come into contact with, who had ten children and a husband with health problems. He took time out of his schedule to meet with us and consider legal options against a plant nearby that the lady suspected was causing her husband's seizures. Though the case was never pursued, the time Gabe took to meet with us and personal risk he took in advocating for the weak came to mind many times. I was so grateful for his compasisonate and kind heart. I think the mom was comforted to know that someone in the legal system cared for her and wanted to help. I truly thank God for how He used Gabe in that situation. So, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson, the input you had into his life reaped fruit in the lives of strangers. My heart is full of sorrow, and it is a great loss to myself and all who knew Gabe! He touched many peoples lives ,and becuase of that we can all live on, knowing that we had an amazing person apart of our life! He had a deep passion for life, and what he believed in, his son, family, friends, his work and his community. You will be missed so much! My prayers and sympathy to all of the family. Even though we are sadden by the loss of a truly wonderful person, we can be at peace knowing God called you home.
