G. E. St John

G. E. "George" St John, 89, of Big Spring, died on Monday, June 1, 2009, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Iatan Cemetery in Mitchell County with his son-in-law, Barry Wallace, officiating. He was born on December 23, 1919, in Mt. Dora, New Mexico and married Paula Marie Jones on November 18, 1942 in Colorado City, Texas. Mr. St John served in the United States Army during World War II in England, France and Germany. He had lived in the Kermit and Crane area for 27 years and moved to Big Spring in November of 1977 from Eldorado. He worked for Shell Pipeline for over 30 years, retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Paula St John of Big Spring; two daughters, Marie Copeland and husband, Gary of Big Spring and Debbie Wallace and husband, Barry of Richmond; one son, Edward St John of Midland; 4 grandchildren, Robert Copeland, Michael Copeland, Jennifer Roland and Paul Wallace; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Myrtle St John; a grandson, John Wallace; two brothers and one sister.
