Fred Ray “Radar” Daniels

Fred Ray “Radar” Daniels 77 of Odessa went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Fred was born on October 1, 1946, to Howard J. Daniels and Helen Cooley of Florence Colorado. Fred lived in Florence until he joined the army to serve his country in the Vietnam war in 1968-1971.

At the end of his military stint, Fred settled in Odessa, TX. During his time in Odessa, Fred worked for several companies in Odessa including Sharp Drilling, A-1 Gasket, and Hanover.  In his spare time, Fred loved bowling, golfing and fishing. In his younger years, Fred was even approached about being a professional bowler. Fred was a member of First Baptist Church, Odessa TX.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Howard J and Helen Daniels, a sister Mary Brown, a sister Judith Cannady.

Fred is survived by his son Matthew Daniels and granddaughter Bailey of Lubbock; his brother Gary Daniels and wife Geneva of Colorado; sister Karen Vallester and husband Sam of Walsenburg Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends Jeff and Judy Scarbrough of Chickasha, OK.

A viewing will be held 8:00am-9:00pm, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.  Funeral services will take place at 2:00pm, Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel.  Burial will be held 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
