Frank Trammell, 91, of Sweetwater passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Odessa Regional Hospital. A private Masonic family service will be held. He was born February 25, 1917 in Sweetwater, Texas to Sallie Sims Trammell and Walter Trammell. Frank was the descendant of three pioneer ranching families. His grandparents were Mary Jane Newman Trammell and Thomas Trammell, who was known as the "Father of Sweetwater". Frank was born and raised in Sweetwater, graduating high school there. After high school he joined the United States Army and served as a medic in World War II for many years. At Tom's ice cream shop in Sweetwater is where he met his wife Sue for the first time and it was love at first sight. The couple married in 1940, she preceded him in death on October 26, 2006. Frank was in sales most of his life. Throughout the 70s and 80s Frank owned and operated Trammell Furniture Company, until his retirement. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Eastern Star, as well as Highland Heights Methodist Church. He is survived by a son, Stan Trammell of Sweetwater, and two grandchildren, Ann Trammell and Ryan Trammell of Dallas, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Trammell, and two daughters, Gail and Phyllis Trammell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Highland Heights Methodist Church, PO Box 838 or the Masonic Lodge, #571, PO Box 474, both of Sweetwater, TX 79556.
