Frank Cortinez, 77, of Big Spring, died on Monday, September 18, 2006, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Rev. Walter McCall, Odyssey Hospice Chaplain, officiating.He was born on October 4, 1928, in Hondo, Texas and married Julia Davala in 1951 in Hondo, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1993.Mr. Cortinez came to Big Spring from Post. He had worked as a gas service attendant for Jack Lewis at Big Spring Tire for 23 years. Frank liked to play pool, sing and play the guitar and tell jokes.He was a Catholic.Survivors include one daughter, Mary Magana of Big Spring; two grandsons, Steven Magana and Abel Magana, Jr. both of Big Spring, and one granddaughter, Rosalinda Magana of Lubbock; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Santos Cortinez and Tab Cortinez both of Hondo; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Manny Cortinez of Odessa.He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
