Maxine Martin, 90, of Houston, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 7, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Rev. Kathryn Boren, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Maxine was born May 3, 1923 to Helen and Charles Gaston in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. She married James Robert Martin on February 3, 1945 in Midland. He preceded Maxine in death on April 27, 2007.Maxine adored her husband. They lived in Andrews for almost 30 years and started numerous businesses. They retired to Lake LBJ in 1976 and spent 25 years in the LBJ area. She loved to play bridge and travel. She opened her home to anyone who needed her and was a very compassionate person, who had many friends. Everyone remembers how she always wore high heels. She never left home without them.Survivors include daughter, Bobbie Maxon and husband Steve of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Donna Wheeler and husband Bill of Midland; son, Russell Martin and wife Lynne of Houston; grandchildren, Derik Maxon, Alyssa Maxon, Chad Wheeler, Corey Wheeler, Jennifer Frey, and Meredeth Martin; and 8 great grandchildren.The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.,
