Pointer, Frances L., 72, of Midland, died on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the Hospice House of Odessa. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2001 at First Baptist Church of Stanton with Rev. Bob Porterfield, pastor of West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. She was born on May 7, 1928 in Headrick, Oklahoma and married Mannie Monroe Pointer on October 19, 1946 in Martin County. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1991. She was a longtime resident of the Courtney Community, and moved to Stanton in 1965. She then moved to Garden City in the early 1980's and owned and operated the Garden City Cafe for a brief time, and continued working there after selling her business. She then moved to Midland in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garden City, and was a former member of Courtney Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Mannie Houston Pointer of Austin; one daughter, Eva Pointer Allison of Midland; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lucille Farrington and Violet Marie Hammond both of Midland, Blanche Laverne Heinen of Birchwood, Tennessee and Elizabeth Pauline Webb of Blackwell; two brothers, Billy Ray Gresham and Leroy Gresham both of Brownwood.
