Frances Eugenia Tate (Carr) 95 of Midland, Tx passed peacefully on December 18, 2024.
Frances was born August 17th, 1929 in Desdemona, Texas to Marvin and Alta Carr. The Carr family moved to Sherwood, Texas, where Marvin was born, in 1933. Frances graduated from Mertzon High School in 1946 then from Abilene Christian College in 1950. Frances married Newell Tate October 14, 1951. Frances and Newell had five children, Kelly, Terry, Laurie, Mark and Timothy. While raising their family in Tarzan, Texas on the family farm, they produced Cotton, Alfalfa, Native grasses and vegetables for the family.
Frances had many interests in her life. First and foremost in her life were her faith and her family. Frances filled in her spare moments sewing many quilts and clothing, cooking from scratch and canning, her gardening extended beyond the family vegetable garden to many native plants in a lovely landscape. Frances was quite the artist including pastels, oils, charcoal creations that are cherished by the family. Her passion for photography extended past taking family photos to landscape and weather. When she wasn’t working on a project she enjoyed creating puzzles on a dedicated table.
Frances enjoyed volunteering at the Church of Christ and local events, the desire to help people was shared by both Newell and Frances. They also enjoyed historical details and events, as well as traveling together including ringing the New York Stock Exchange bell and quite a few cruises.
Her professional career started as a schoolteacher in Knott, Texas. Her love of teaching continued with music at Grady ISD and private piano plus swimming lessons for many of the local community youth.
Frances is survived by her children Kelly (Judy), Terry (Dorothy), Laurie, Mark (Teri), and daughter in law Elizabeth, her 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren plus one on the way. Frances is also survived by a wonderful and loving extended family.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie (Aunt Ri), the love of her life husband Newell, and son Timothy.
