Sandra Sams Hensley departed this life on September 11, 2025. She was born to Wanda Butler Sams and Van Earl Sams on January 28, 1938. She graduated from Vernon High School as class Salutatorian in 1955. She attended Southern Methodist University as well as the University of Texas.
In the summer of 1956 she met Harold Leroy Hensley, Jr. They were married the following March 2, 1957. The couple was joyfully married for 68 years, having lived in Houston, Washington, DC, Austin, Roswell, NM, and Midland.
While living in Austin, TX Sandra and Harold were blessed by the birth of twin girls, Ceci and Cathi. They relocated to Roswell, NM in 1960, and their third daughter, Cindy, was born in 1964. In 2004, Sandra and Harold moved from Roswell, NM to Midland, TX.
Sandra was a deeply devoted mother to her three girls, seven grandchildren, and a wonderful wife to Harold. Her passion was to care for her pets, working in her garden, and serving her church. She also was a gifted musician and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends by playing the piano. She had a God given talent to play music by ear. She would often hear a tune and sit down at the piano and play it perfectly!
Sandra served on the Altar Guild of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Roswell, NM for many years. She took pride in ironing the linens and polishing the various pieces of silver in the church sacristy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wanda and Van Earl Sams. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Leroy Hensley, Jr., and her three daughters Cathi Wisler (and husband Del); Ceci Westmoreland; Cindy Caraway (and husband Bill); and brother Van Sams (and wife Toni); seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one nephew and four nieces.
