Floyd Virgil Wilde

When at last the harvest comes, as the fields receive the dew, a life well lived leaves legacy; the Master plan in view. I believe that a man’s greatest pride is his dignity, and no calling bestows this more abundantly than farming. I am just a farmer, plain and simple; not of royal birth, but rather a worker of the earth.

Floyd Virgil Wilde departed this earth Monday, March 27, 2023, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family. Floyd moved his farming to the heavenly kingdom; where the soil is rich and the crops abundant. Wake service and rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2023, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Floyd was born to R.B. and Alice (Strube) Wilde in San Angelo, Texas on September 9, 1942. He grew up farming with his siblings and worked at the gin in Wall, with his buddies from school, when he was only 17. He graduated from Wall High School in 1961. He and his brother, Leroy, started farming in St. Lawrence in 1964 and moved there permanently in 1965. Floyd met the love of his life, Sandra (Seidenberger) Wilde at a Jimmy Heap dance in Rowena, Texas. They were married on January 15, 1966, and spent 57 beautiful years together. They raised three children in St. Lawrence, where he farmed cotton until 2021. Floyd was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church until he and Sandra moved to Miles in 2015, where they joined St. Thomas Catholic Church. Floyd was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Lawrence Cotton Growers Association.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, children: Gina (David) Tanner, Neal (Mona) Wilde and Caryl (Eric) Beimer. Also left to cherish their grandpa’s memory are his grandchildren: Bryan (LaShea) Munn, Breanne (Brandon) Schniers, Joshua (Kysha) Tanner, Jarrod Tanner, Breanna (Ian) Barry, Rowdy (Jordan) Rasco, Mason and Chayse Beimer. His real pride and joy were his great-grandchildren; Willow and Theo Munn, Haislee, Hartley, and Huckston Schniers, Sloane, Laetyn, and Beckett Tanner, Asa and Cameron Tanner, Ryatt and Juliette Rasco. They will miss him dearly.

Floyd is also survived by his siblings and their spouses: Leroy Wilde, Lorene Franke, Sara Everett, Betty Willberg, Olen Wilde, Cathy Allison, Wilfred Wilde, and brother-in-law Joe Kouba and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Merlene Kouba, brother-in-law Phil Everett and great-grandson, Noah Munn.

As a family, we express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Lam Siu, Dr. Raj Cheruku and his nursing staff, Shannon Medical Center 5N staff; especially Lauren, Sierra, and Hayley -his angels. Solaris Hospice was phenomenal in their care and comfort in Daddy’s last days; especially Christie Bird.
