Wherever he and Bonnie lived, they quickly became a part of the church family and worked diligently in the ministry of the church. He was active in the Gideons and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As a former coach, he loved football of every kind-but especially, Nebraska Cornhusker football, as he treasured the times he and Bonnie spent with the Cornhusker team. He was a member of East Fourth Baptist Church in Big Spring and First Baptist Church in Stanton.Mr. Sorley was a longtime member of the Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association, Masonic Lodge, and was a Gideon and a Shriner.
