Floretta Peden, 93, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026. She was born on March 26, 1933, in Clay County, Texas, to Charles Rhoades and Daisy Powell, both of whom preceded her in death.
Floretta was also preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Oma Jackson, Cleo Rhoades, Velma Strawberry, Opal Peden, Dorothy Liggett, Mona Wells, and her daughter, Diane Scott, as well as her grandson, Will Scott.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Susan Golson and husband Tony Golson. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: April and Jerry Underwood, Blake and Heather Golsan, Courtney and Eric Allen, Stephanie and Jorge, and Ashley Stanton. Floretta was heavily blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren, nine on Susan’s side of the family and six on Dianne’s side.
Floretta loved the simple joys of life and filled many days with puzzles, china painting, dominoes, Skip-Bo, and card games shared with family and friends around the table. Her faith was the steady lantern of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and was a faithful member of Homeline Baptist Church.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Homeline Baptist Church. A burial will be on Monday May 25th at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Jacksboro, TX at 1:00 PM.
Floretta / Nanny will be remembered for her loving heart, her enduring faith, and the countless memories she created with those who knew and loved her.
