Florencio Ortiz Martinez, 73, longtime Pecos and Midland pastor, passed away June 17, 2022. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, June 22nd from 5:00-9:00 pm at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be Thursday morning, June 23rd, 9:30 am at the First Baptist Church Chapel, Midland, Texas.
The son of Julia Martinez and Geronimo Ortiz, Florencio was born April 29, 1949 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He was united in marriage to Maria L. Marquez on July 8, 2006 in Midland. Pastor Florencio served at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Pecos, Texas and also served as President of the Asociacion Rio-Pecos. Pastor Florencio loved to spend quality time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed gardening with his beloved wife. Throughout his years, he was self-employed in lawn maintenance, but his top priority was spreading the Word and Love of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rodolfo Ortiz and Jose Ortiz and grandson, Mathew Granado.
Pastor Ortiz is survived by his wife, Maria Ortiz; his seven children, Verenice Orgiz, Brenda Ortiz-Granado, Luis Ortiz and wife, Erika, David Ortiz and wife Natalie, Joey Ortiz and wife, Crystal, Jesse Orgiz and wife, Jesenia, and Flor and husband, Andy Salgado; his step-children, Meno Urquidez and wife, Jessica Bernal, Liz Ramirez, Jesse Enriquez and wife, Rubi; his five siblings, Gaino, Maria Luisa, Maria Guadalupe, Maria Santos and Gregorio. He was blessed with his seventeen grandchildren, Julia Ortiz, Joey Lopez, Brandon Granado, Carmeron Joe Granado, Ayden, Addysen, Austyn, Aliek, Zoei, Preslynn, Penelope, Baby Lucas, Christopher, and Lily Ortiz, Baby Salgado, Giovanni Urquidez and Aliyah Enriquez, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
