There will never be enough words to describe the beautiful and remarkable woman Florence Emily Pollard was. To those who loved her most, she was simply “Gamma”—a name that came to mean love, home, laughter, strength, and a lifetime of beautiful memories.
Florence passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026, with her beloved husband, Bobby, at her side.
She was a woman of unwavering faith who loved the Lord, treasured her prayer group and longtime friends, and leaned on her faith through every season of life. Florence was a fighter who endured many trials, yet they never hardened her. Her heart remained tender, welcoming, and full of love. She truly never knew a stranger.
Florence and Bobby were married for 47 years and made the most beautiful team. Florence could dream up just about anything, Bobby would build it, and she would paint it. She loved quilting and creating things with her hands, and together they filled their life with handmade treasures, antiques, trinkets, and memories.
An expert in antiques, Florence owned her beloved antique store, Fancies, and had an incredible eye for finding the best of the best. She found beauty everywhere—in old treasures, flowers she planted, hummingbirds outside her window, and the deer she loved watching during the many years she spent in Zephyr, Texas.
But no treasure ever compared to her family.
Gamma was the matriarch and heart of her family. She lived for her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. She was immensely proud of them, and there was hardly anywhere she would rather be than in the stands cheering on one of her grandchildren.
Some of the best memories with Gamma came from her willingness to bend the rules just a little—picking a grandchild up from school early simply to spend the afternoon together or deciding a late-night Walmart trip for toys and trinkets was perfectly reasonable. Those little adventures became some of the memories her family treasures most.
She loved gathering people around her table, entertaining, catering, and making holidays special. Whether it was the Fourth of July, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, or Christmas, Florence never did anything halfway. She had a gift for making ordinary days feel important and celebrations feel magical.
For the past five years, Vanessa was Gamma’s primary caregiver, providing extraordinary love, patience, comfort, and care. Vanessa became far more than a caregiver—she became family. Her devotion and genuine love for Florence brought Gamma companionship and comfort and gave her family tremendous peace of mind.
That may be Gamma’s greatest legacy: she made memories.
She turned houses into homes, gatherings into traditions, and little moments into stories her family will tell for generations. Her greatness was something you had to experience—in the way she loved you, prayed for you, welcomed you, cheered for you, fed you, celebrated you, and always made sure you knew you belonged.
Florence was preceded in death by many dearly loved family members and friends, and her family finds comfort in knowing she has been reunited with so many she loved and missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby, along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—the family she loved more than anything in this world. They were her greatest joy, and the love she poured into them will continue through every generation that follows.
Florence left behind something death can never take away: a lifetime of love woven into generations of her family.
She will be remembered in every hummingbird that pauses outside the window, every flower that blooms, every quilt made with loving hands, every beautifully decorated holiday table, every treasured antique, and every story that begins with, “Remember when Gamma…”
Her hands created beauty.
Her home welcomed everyone.
Her prayers covered those she loved.
And her love gave generations a lifetime of memories.
Florence Emily Pollard was deeply loved, will be immeasurably missed, and will live on in the family, traditions, and beautiful memories she leaves behind.
What a blessing it was to be loved by Gamma.
