Flora Salazar, 82, of Big Spring, went to be with her heavenly Father Wednesday, February 8, 2017.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with a vigil service starting at 7:00 PM.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Sam Matthiesen and Father Frank Chavez officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.Flora was a Certified Nurse’s Aide starting at Malone & Hogan Hospital and retiring with Scenic Mountain Medical Center after 40 years. Upon retiring, she enjoyed volunteering with RSVP and most recently at Canterbury Retirement Center and the Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce. She was very much involved with her family who will miss her tremendously.Survivors include her sister, Mary Salazar; brother, Joe Salazar and wife, Cruz; sister-in-law, Gina Salazar, all of Big Spring; seven nieces and nephews who were like her children, Debbye Val Verde and husband, Larry, David Salazar and wife, Sheila, Tony Salazar and wife, Michelle, Denise Salazar and husband, Marty Deanda, all of Big Spring, Brenda Nack and husband, Peter of Baltimore, MD, Lisa Williams and husband, Mark of Midland, and John Salazar; several great nieces and nephews; and honorary family member Liz Baquera.She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Isabel and Catarino Salazar; sisters, Juanita and Inez Salazar; brothers, Tim and Frank Salazar; and sister-in-law, Ruth Salazar.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Howard/Glasscock Counties Relay for Life, www.relayforlife.org or the Oblate Madonna Residence (retirement home for Oblate priests), 5722 Blanco Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216.Pallbearers will be Marty Deanda, Peter Nack, Michael Salazar, Tony Salazar, Jordan Williams, and Mark Williams.Honorary Pallbearers are Sophie Deanda, Aaron Patterson, Beth Salazar, Elyse Salazar, Gavin Salazar, William Salazar, Alana Wegner, and Laura Williams.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
