Faye Jordan Sanford, 81, of Midland, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2023.
Faye, or “Tutu” as she was known by her many step-grandchildren, was born on March 17, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to Harmon and Gladys (Logue) Jordan. She married Gene Russ in 1963, at which time they moved to El Paso, Texas, and later to Las Cruces, New Mexico. She later married Newell Ben Sanford in Las Cruces in 1976. She and Newell made their home in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas, and were married for 29 years. Faye remained in Oak Cliff for an additional 14 years, after which she moved to Midland, Texas to be closer to family.
Faye was employed by AT&T for approximately 40 years and worked her way up from a telephone operator to a marketing specialist. After retirement, Faye and Newell lived an adventurous life. They hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail with their beloved dog, Lady, and they became certified in scuba diving and took several dive trips to Mexico and the Caribbean. They also enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their motorhome. She kept busy with quieter activities such as crocheting, hand and machine knitting, quilting and sewing, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Wheatland United Methodist Church in Dallas.
Faye is survived by stepdaughters Karen Huguley (Dale, now deceased) of Lubbock, Texas, Karla Sanford (Greg) of Casper, Wyoming, and Paula Brunson (Eddie) of Midland, Texas; step grandchildren Shawna Welch, Heather Welch Jensen, Leah Thomas Wright, Henry Brunson, and Charles Brunson; and many step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Newell Sanford; parents, Harmon and Gladys Jordan; sisters, Elizabeth “Beth” Akin and Madge Householder; brothers, Harmon “Buck” Jordan and Earl “Buddy” Jordan; and step grandson, James Guy Thomas.

Faye will be buried in a private memorial ceremony at Resthaven Cemetery in Dallas next to her husband of 29 years and their good friends David & Nell Abshire.
